I hope everyone had a wonderful Canadian thanksgiving. We all have different blessings in our own lives that we are thankful for and I hope that for most of us, we don’t need a special holiday to appreciate and be grateful for our families. Coming from Filipino and Italian heritage, there’s a big extended family presence at Steve and Anna’s wedding and it was no surprise that appreciation for their family was an apparent sentiment.
Steve and Anna’s wedding day was also the 50th wedding anniversary of Steve’s aunt and uncle. They flew in from Alberta to celebrate with the new husband and wife and in turn, Steve and Anna wanted to celebrate their anniversary as inspiration for a successful marriage. Unfortunately, Steve’s uncle fell ill and could not come to the wedding. Nonetheless, Steve and Anna made time to visit their uncle at the hospital before the reception to share in their happiness. While the original plan was for their uncle to serenade them at the reception with an Italian love song, he ended up singing at the hospital with a quiet strength that made the song even more heartbreakingly beautiful. At the reception, the room grew quiet as everyone strained to watch and listen to the song we captured. Their aunt was in tears seeing her beloved husband in quiet resolve as he breathed life to the song that I’m sure spoke of their own enduring love as much as Steve and Anna’s. The song then segued into a slideshow, not of Steve and Anna, but of their aunt and uncle’s 50 glorious years together as husband and wife.
Now, it’s Steve and Anna’s beginning as they take their first steps towards 50 and more years of happiness together. Here are a few of our favorite images from the day.
