It’s almost a cliche to exclaim that a wedding was full of genuine heartfelt emotions. However, with Aly and Safina, it was the one thing that stood out while going through the images in post as we see how both bride and groom took that moment as an opportunity to genuinely express their love and appreciation to the people who came to celebrate with them. The people who made them who they are as individuals and made them perfect for each other.
The day started out with a late morning ceremony at the Darkhana in Burnaby with Safina looking gorgeous in a Swarovski laden champagne saree and Aly looking dapper in his coat and tie. They are joined by the maid of honor who flew in from New York and the best man, Aly’s cousin and Khati’s brother. After the civil and Nikkah ceremony, we finished up portraits at the beautiful Ismaili Centre and headed off downtown for the late lunch reception. Aly and Safina’s friends and family filled the main ballroom of the Marriott Pinnacle where they enjoyed more Ismaili cultural ceremonies, scrumptious lunch buffet and flashbacks to Aly and Safina’s blast courtesy of heartwarming speeches.
After all the traditional motions of a reception with family and relatives were over, the Safina got ready to don her western bridal gown in preparation for the celebration at The Helm which they booked exclusively for a night of fun partying with friends.

Photogenic Bride Foot Notes:
- We’ve photographed sarees in the past with intricate and beautiful beading but my attention got caught with Safina’s which was laden with Swarovski Crystals. She got the saree from India and apparently Swarovskis on sarees are the in thing right now.
- We would all love to have Jimmy Choo’s champagne glitter peep toe heels for our wedding but Safina hit the right styling note with her Enzo Anglioni pair which looks as good, if not better, than the Choos! It went well with both her glittery saree and her wedding dress!
